通称トンジギと呼ばれる、三重沖を中心とした冬期のジギング。
それは、ビンナガが回遊してくる潮目を中心に想定のタナでひたすらジグを動かし続ける過酷な釣りである。

ジグをしゃくり続けるのはジギングなら全て同じであるのになぜ『過酷』と表現したか、それはトンジギを行う環境による。
水深500ｍ以上のポイントで、タナは通常100m前後、時には200mを超える。そして季節風により船が1ノット以上で流れる事も珍しくない。
そのような状況で想定のタナへジグを入れていくには、風や潮流に負けない重量のジグを使用する必要がある。

Commonly known as “tonjigi,” winter jigging is centered off the coast of Mie.
It is a tough type of fishing in which you keep moving the jig at the intended depth, focusing on the tide line where the albacore tuna migrate.

Continually jerking the jig is the same in all jigging, so why is it described as “tough”? It depends on the environment in which you do tonjigi.
At points with a depth of 500m or more, the depth is usually around 100m, sometimes exceeding 200m. It is also not uncommon for boats to drift at more than one knot due to seasonal winds.
To cast the jig at the intended depth in such conditions, you need to use a jig that is heavy enough to withstand the wind and current.

ターゲットが回遊してくるタイミングにそのタナでジグが泳いでいることが最も重要な要素となる。
何時廻ってくるかも知れないそのタイミングまで、ひたすらジグを動かし続ける事、それが最重要課題であるのだ。

もちろん、船長は魚探でそのタイミングとなるべきヒントを常に教えてくれるのだが、魚探に反応が合ってからジグを投入していては到底間に合うはずもない。故にジグに求められる性能は自然と決まってくるのである。

まず、船の流れに負けずタナまで素早く到達する為のフォールスピード。シャクリ続けられる引き抵抗の軽さ。多少のレンジが違っていてもターゲットを呼び寄せられるアピール力。ターゲットに口を使わせられるアクション。
これらの要素をバランスよく満たした、所謂万能タイプのメタルジグを目指して開発されたのが、この『トンボジグ』である。

連続ヒットのキッカケとなる一匹を狙うハイピッチなシャクリにも、後追い連鎖を狙う為のフォールにも、効率よくレンジを狙うスローピッチなシャクリにもハイレベルに対応可能な形状とは何か？
そこを目指して模索した結果、現在の形状に至ったものである。状況に合わせて何種類ものジグを用意するには、1つ1つの重量が障害となるからこそ求められる『応用範囲の広さ』に対応する答えがここに有る。
正にトンジギ専用ジグ、それがトンボジグである。

The most important element is that the jig should be swimming at the right depth when the target fish migrates.
The most important thing is to keep moving the jig until that moment, when you don’t know when it will come around.

Of course, the captain always gives you hints on when that should be with the fish finder, but if you wait until the fish finder shows a reaction, there’s no way you’ll be able to cast the jig in time. Therefore, the performance required of the jig is naturally determined.

First, the fall speed to quickly reach the depth without being defeated by the current of the boat. Light pulling resistance to keep jerking. Appealing power to attract the target even if it is slightly out of range. Action that makes the target bite.
The “Tonbo Jig” was developed with the aim of creating a so-called all-purpose metal jig that meets all these elements in a well-balanced way.

What is a shape that can handle high-level fast jerking to target a single fish that will lead to consecutive hits, falls to aim for a chain of follow-ups, and slow-pitch jerking to efficiently target the range?
The current shape was arrived at as a result of searching for that goal. When preparing several types of jigs to suit different situations, the weight of each one becomes an obstacle, and this is the answer to the “wide range of applications” that is required.
The Tombo Jig is truly a jig designed specifically for Tonjigi fishing.
